Max error 3%

BQ20Z95 IC

I have a battery that 42 cycles and still is in R_DIS. I have cycled it 6 times to see if it will display 1% error. All my batteries display 1% error typically within 3 cycles. This battery was returned from a customer. I have reset it and re-calibrated the voltage and currrent prior to the 6 cycles. It takes a charge and the FCC looks good but never drops below 3% error. You have any ideas?

  • Mike,

    1. Are you sure this battery ever learned correctly? What is the value of UpdateStatus?

    2. When you cycle it, did you charge FULLY, wait 2 hours, discharge FULLY, wait 5 hours?

R_DIS flag does not represent anything abnormal, it just shows that we

consider the previous OCV reading not accurate enough for resistance updates.

It just temporarily disables resistance updates until next OCV reading.

After next relaxation, R_DIS will clear at the moment of new OCV reading.

    Rgds,

    Doug
