LM74700-Q1: Output capacitor capacity

Part Number: LM74700-Q1

Dear TI team,

I would like to ask about output capacitor capacity.

The 10.1.1.2.3 Charge Pump VCAP, input and output capacitance of the data sheet states that the minimum required output capacitor capacitance is 100nF.

However, in the application example of Figure.20 (below), Cout=47μF.

Also, in Table 1. Design Parameters, it is described as minimum 1 μF as shown below.
This conflicts with the description in 10.1.1.2.3 of the data sheet.

Please tell me the reason why Cout of application example is minimun. 1μF (typical. 47μF).

Best Regards,

Y.Ottey

  • Hi Ottey,

Minimum 0.1uF is good for the IC operation.

However, based on the application requirements such as hold up during input micro short (100us in LV124 E10) 47uF is required for supporting the load during the input microshort duration. This is mainly to support uninterrupted operation during input micro short.

Table 1. will be corrected to indicate 0.1uF minimum.

    Regards,

    Kari.
