TPS62366B: Start -up Sequence

Hello team!

I would like to confirm the start-up sequence for this device.

Is there any recommendation or restriction for the start-up sequence?

The current customer sequence is below.

VDD >> EN >> I2C input >> VIN

    The limitations for the start up sequence are determined by the absolute maximum voltage values in the table on page 2 of the datasheet. 

    According to this table, if pin AVIN is connected to VIN, then having EN at a higher voltage than AVIN+0.3V is outside of the specs of the converter just like having SDA or SCL higher than VDD+0.3V is also outside of the specs. So that particular start-up sequence is not viable. 

    It would be suitable if VIN and VDD are powered up before applying voltages on I2C pins and the EN pin. 

    Also this is quite and older device, we have newer devices that have similar specs such as TPS62864/6.

    Thank you for your answer & recommendation for the latest device.

    Unfortunately, the customer doesn't have much time to switch the device at this time.(it requires several processes to use a new device...)

    But for the next project, I'm going to show it to them.

    One more thing, I would like to confirm the sequence.

    If VIN/VDD/EN starts up at the same time, then applying the I2C, the Vout has default voltage until I2C is applied?

  • Hi Kazuki-san,

    Correct, until the Vout has been changed by the I2C signal it will be set to its default value. The default value depends on the voltage of the VSEL pin as shown on page 23 of the datasheet.
