REF3012: a resistor in series with output cap is required for better noise performance?

Part Number: REF3012
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: REF5050

Hi team,

For better noise performance, a resistor in series with output capacitor can be added as option in some of your products like REF50xx.

Does the resistor in case of REF3012 also help the noise performance?

I am not sure why the resistor helps the noise performance in some products but does not help in other products.

  • HI Noriyuki

Output capacitor should have low ESR in case of REF3012. So It is not recommended to put resistor.

Noise improvement with resistor in series with cap depends on the internal architecture of the reference. REF5050 and REF3012 have different internal architecture.

    So we can't compare them.
