BQ40Z50-R3-DEVICE-FW: Degrade Mode

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R3-DEVICE-FW

Hi TI Team,

I have following questions regarding the degrade mode.

1. It seem from the TRM, either SOH based or cycle count based is suggested to be used for degrade mode. Just curious why only one enabled at a time and what may happen if I enable both?

2. For CV degrade, use default setting as example, assuming CV = 4.2V/cell. When entering degrade mode 1, CV = 4.2V - 10mV. My question is, for Degrade mode 2, CV = 4.2V - 40mV or 4.2V - 10mV - 40mV?

3. For BQ40Z50-R3, runtime based degrade is added. Can you please explain more on the setting: Runtime Update Interval and Runtime Degrade from Advanced Charge Algorithm//Degrade Mode? I did't quite understand them when reading the TRM.

I would appreciate it very much if someone can answer my questions!

Best Regards,

Zhihan

[Andy] You can only enable one of them. If both of them are enabled, the gauge will not do any degradation.
    2. For CV degrade, use default setting as example, assuming CV = 4.2V/cell. When entering degrade mode 1, CV = 4.2V - 10mV. My question is, for Degrade mode 2, CV = 4.2V - 40mV or 4.2V - 10mV - 40mV?
[Andy]  Based on the descriptions in the TRM, my understanding is that CV should be 4.2V - 10mV - 40mV.
    3. For BQ40Z50-R3, runtime based degrade is added. Can you please explain more on the setting: Runtime Update Interval and Runtime Degrade from Advanced Charge Algorithm//Degrade Mode? I didn't quite understand them when reading the TRM.
[Andy] Let me see if we can find more details to help you.
