BQ27210 only available in reels???

I've designed an intelligent rechargeable data acquisition system using BQ27210 as the gas gauge. Now that we're about to send the PCB to manufacturing, I almost fell off my chair when I noticed that this chip is sold only in quantities of 3000pcs.

Is this really true? Even samples seem to be unavailable!

    To add to this, I seem to have managed to order five samples directly from TI. With these I can test and verify my prototype but can I rely on getting these chips in smaller amounts in the future? I'm working in a research project and obviously this isn't going to be a volume product in the near future.

    Hello,

    Digikey, mouser, Arrow and Avnet in the US would stock this device.

    Hi Keith,

    thanks for your reply! I'm from Finland and checked Digi-Key, Mouser and Farnell. They all showed only the reel code, that's what made me concerned. Even the data sheet has only reel data in the end.

    I'm glad to hear they are available in smaller amounts so I don't have to replace the circuit. I don't even know a good replacement that handles both Li-Ion and Li-Po batteries.
