Good day

Our customer use the Webench to simulate the TPS61022 reference design . In the data sheet , the reference design is Vin 2.75-4.35V /Vout 5V / Iout 3A

In the Webench system , it can create the schematic , but when we run the simulation . the output only 3.46V, here is the screenshot

I also use the TINA to simulate it , the same issue happened , I found if I change the Vin lower than 2V or current lower than 1A , it will be OK

So could you provide me the explanation for this phenomenon ?

Hi Leon,

Attached is the TINA simulation that I made some little changes.

The main reason that you found the device cannot run is because TPS61022 has a soft-start input inrush current limit. So it cannot startup from a heavy load.

I need to confirm one thing with you , the rush limitation , is this only happened in the simulation , does it will influence the customer application , our customer

will use the TPS61022 with 2A load at least .

Hi Leon,

This input startup current limit only happens at startup.

Please see the datasheet part 7.3.2. There is detailed explanation.
