BQ78Z100: abnormal communication

Part Number: BQ78Z100
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EV2400

Hi team

Here come across one scenerio that battery HDQ of bq78z100 gauge high level voltage cannot reach 3.3V, only 1.7V (which is still higher than 0.7*VREG=1.26v ,see the figure below).  When communicate with some matser MCU, the HDQ communication somestimes is abnormal, cannot recognize and authorize the battery, but still can read the parameter via simulation  box.

Is the abnormal voltage of 1.7V would cause this? Do you happen to see what possible reason could be this 1.7V high can not reach 3.3V?

  • Hello Gene,

This voltage should be fine for the gauge to read the high bits, do you have a scope capture or logic analyzer to see the communication?

With the simulation box communication is successful? are you referring to the EV2400 for the simulation box?

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
