BQ27426: GPOUT pin control

Part Number: BQ27426

Dears

We have a confuse for the GPOUT pin, if we do not use it, should we left it floating?  and for the shunt down mode, if we connect the GPOUT to the SDA, with it impact the chip in normal mode.

And also how the device will into shunt down mode, and how it will exit the shunt down mode. because this is a system side gauge, so if the battery have discharged into protection, then the gauge will have a power cycle, in this case, what should the system do to make sure the accuracy?

thanks

  • Hello Jason,

The GPOUT pin is used as an interrupt or to get the gauge out of shutdown mode. It would be best to connect it to a GPIO on the MCU, I'm not sure how it will operate if connected to the SDA line.

The Reserve Capacity can be used to perform a controlled shutdown before protections are reached. After a reset or battery insertion the gauge will take an OCV reading to gauge the batteries SOC, the accuracy depends on the application.

    Sincerely,
