TPS2121: Can you recommend a non-BGA power mux for my application?

Part Number: TPS2121
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2112A, TPS2113A, TPS2114A, TPS2115A

Hi Expert,

I want to select a power mux, my application is as below.

Two power rail, power#1 is 3.2~3.7V, power#2 is 3.6V. We want to select power#1 as priority power rail, when power#1 is lower than 3.2V, use power#2.

I find TPS2121 function is suitable for my application, because I can use power#1 as IN1, power#2 as IN2, and set IN1 as first priority output of TPS2121, when IN1< V_PRI(set V_PRI = 3.2V), power #2 will be TPS2121 output.  However, TPS2121 is BGA package which is not acceptable for our soldering process.

So can you help recommend a non-BGA power mux device that can select output by monitor the voltage of one power rail input?

Thank you

Rachel

  • Hi Rachel,

Will the TPS211x family of devices be suitable for your application? These are not BGA power muxes but they do not have the high voltage capability of TPS212x.

    A few options are:

    TPS2112A

    TPS2113A

    TPS2114A

    TPS2115A

Thank you for choosing TI Power Switches in your designs.
