BQ40Z80: Where to connect the capacitors when using external balancing circuit.

Part Number: BQ40Z80

In the datasheet it is mentioned that the capacitors should be connected between the VCI pins (VC1,VC2,VC3 etc.).

However, in the technical documentation, it is shown that the capacitors are connected between the VCI pins and the ground.

Which one is correct?

We are using external balancing circuit.

  • Hello Animesh,

They are both correct. However, the datasheet explains how to connect it when there is no external cell-balancing. An example of how this is set-up can be seen by looking at the BQ40Z80-EVM schematic, which uses no external cell-balancing.

For your application, using external cell-balancing, you will want to follow the schematic example shown in the Technical Reference(Figure 8-4).
