TPS62821: Without pull-up or pull-down on EN pin can damage IC ?

Hello,

On my design the enable pin of the buck converter TPS62821 is controlled by a µC, but before the µC is programmed the EN pin is leave floated and VIN is powered.

During this time, the output of the buck converter is probably enable or not, but there is a possibility to dammage the component, and it is no longer functional ?

Hi Kevin,

The EN pin of the TPS62821 has to be biased at all times, it must never be left floating when VIN is powered as the datasheet of the TPS62821 describes on page 9. If the EN pin is left floating, the IC is not in a controlled condition so this could cause damage to the IC.
