BQ35100 : unseal, seal function error

Part Number: BQ35100
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EV2400,

Hello. I am using battery management studio 1.3.86 software and I2C communication with EV2400.

The dash board showed that the EV2400 and dq35100 connections were made to I2C, and the registers also confirmed that the voltage, temperature, and charge accumulation changed. However, there is a problem with bit registers. If you give the command unseal, SEC1 should turn green, but it doesn't. Each time you press unseal, a window called unseal device appears, prompting you to enter a key. The same is true after several attempts. If you press OK after inputting, both SEC1 and SEC0 occur as LOW (red), and the value of UNSEAL appears in the Log Panel as N/A.

To solve this, I used EV2400 firmware installation, program reinstallation, etc., but the same symptoms repeat. Schematics were used as is in the datasheet. Is there a workaround? Thank you.

  • Did you check the SEC1 and SEC0 bits when the device was powered on for the first time? These two bits should be 0, 1 (Full Access) by default.

  • No Both bits are red. Having trouble with how to connect? The program installation, EV2400 firmware update, battery, load connection, chemistry setting, programming, and gold image setting are all done.

  • Hello,

If you have sealed the device you must unseal it using either the key you set to unseal the device or the default key if you have not changed it. if both SEC1 and SEC0 are red then you are in sealed mode.

The default unseal and full access keys are the same for all the gauges: 0x0414 and 0x3672 (unseal), 0xFFFF and 0xFFFF (full access)

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hello.
After clicking unseal, enter key = 36720414, and after clicking unseal full access, enter key = FFFFFFFF.
Still, SEC1, SEC0 are still red.
Are there other ways to unseal SEC1, SEC0?

After connecting the device, SEC1, SEC0 are red since the program starts for the first time, and they are not released even when you click UNSEAL, UNSEAL_FULL_ACCESS without changing the settings.

Do I need to install another driver?

  • I would suggest you replace that bq35100 device with a new fresh unit. Check the SEC1 and SEC0 bits when it is powered on for the first time.  These two bits should be 0,1.
