LMR14020-Q1: Sleep Mode Quiescent Current

Part Number: LMR14020-Q1

Hello,

I want to use this component on my new design. When my circuit is sleep mode, total current will be about 1 mA but my processor will continue to work on sleep mode. So my processor will want current from SMPS about 1 mA.

When ı look over datasheet, ı looked operating quiescent current for this product. About 40uA. But when ı read below title of sleep mode ı can not understand so much about operating quescent current. My questions is listed below.

  1. If my smps output is 5 volt - 1mA (My circuit's sleep current) how much current will be on smps input ?
  2. If my smps output is 5 volt - 300mA ( According to datasheet, page 10) what will happen on smps ? Smps will enter sleep mode ?

Best regards,

  • Hi Aozpay,

    1. If my smps output is 5 volt - 1mA (My circuit's sleep current) how much current will be on smps input ?---------Depends on input voltage, it's about 0.5--1mA
    2. If my smps output is 5 volt - 300mA ( According to datasheet, page 10) what will happen on smps ? Smps will enter sleep mode ?---------300mA threshold is for current peak, device normally enter sleep mode at load current below 100mA--150mA.

  • Hi Andy,

If smps enters sleep mode can ı take 5 volt on smps output  and can ı drive about 10 - 150 mA with 5 volt output ?

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Aozpay,

Yes, at sleep mode, converter is still monitoring output voltage and wake up to regulate output if it decrease 10-20mV lower than target.
