BQ25601: Benefit of power path MOSFETs

Hi,

in BQ25601, there is a BATFET that is isolating BAT from SYS.

The benefit is that SYSTEM can be instantly on even with deeply discharged battery.

Are there any other benefit of adding such a BATFET? Especially from battery's lifetime perspective.

so from the battery's safety or lifetime perspective, BATFET does not bring benefit, right?
