Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMZ31704
Good day! There is such a question. The product consumes 5A, but it is necessary to make a current limitation of 6A for the starting current. How can i do this?

Hi Andrej,
I don't quite understand what you are asking -- can you please rephrase? You would like the current limit to be 6A during startup, and then a different value after startup (what value?)?
As you will see in the bottom of p.4 of the datasheet, we specify two current limit settings based on the ILIM pin connection. With ILIM pin open, the current limit threshold is 12A, and with ILIM pin shorted to AGND, the current limit threshold is 9A. The LMZ31704 has lower current limits of 9A and 6A.
Regards,
Kris
Hi Andrej, it is common for the current limit to be set some margin above the max allowed DC output current to allow for transient conditions, for example, a load step up to 7A where the inductor current has to exceed the demanded load current for some time to recharge the output (cap) and supply the demanded load. The current will be limited within the switching cycle.
