TPS7A4701-EP: Paralleling TPS7A4700RGWR

Part Number: TPS7A4701-EP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A47

Is it possible to paralleling two or more TPS7A4700RGWRs to increase the ouput current?

  • Hi Thomas,

    Regarding the app note: https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/tiducs7/tiducs7.pdf

It is possible to use TPS7A47 in a parallel configuration because it meets the criteria, with one exception - the output voltage accuracy:

+/- 3.5% is not very high accuracy, and using this configuration may result in a necessary ballast resistor which is impractically large. However, the accuracy can be greatly improved by connecting the NR pins of the LDOs together.

We suggest connecting the LDOs with the NR pins connected and performing an accuracy measurement with the expected load conditions. This will greatly reduce the size of the ballast resistor.

    Best regards,

    Nick
