    Can you share us what's the application? Does it need a linear or buck LED driver? From our point of view, I think TPS92610(Linear), LM36011(Linear) or TPS92200(Buck) can meet your requirement.

The application  is flashing three LEDs in series in an automotive environment from -40 degrees C to 125 degrees C at an accuracy of +- 5%. I did forget to include that it needs to be a linear LED driver preferably not requiring a very low current setting resistor but perhaps that is not possible. (I'm concerned about trace resistances.)

Concerning the TPS92610:

• Is the Short-to-GND detection always operational?
• Can a person turn Short-to-GND detection off?
• if I do not use the Single LED Short Detection feature, what would be the best way to connect SSH and SSL in a circuit to minimize current draw? I need to have current draw low as possible.
• I understand that the FAULT pin can be left open if I do not need any of the FAULT features except over temperature and only one driver is used. Is that correct?

  In case there is no need of this feature, SSH and SSL must be tied together to a resistor divider to avoid false alarms as shown
  in datasheet Figure 21.

    There is no maximum value for the resistor divider. TI recommendstotalresistanceof R1and R2greaterthan100-kΩ, so the currenthas negligibleeffecton LEDluminance. You can use the resistor as large as possible.

Interestingly, so even an extreme value of 1 Meg ohm would allow the SSH and SSL inputs to work properly.

    Yes, that just been used as the resistor divider for detection, so you can use large resistor to minimize the current.

Okay.

Because the lead pitch is only 0.65 mm and the space between leads only 0.35 mm, this makes hand soldering for prototyping very, very challenging. Do you have any suggestions or recommendation for hand soldering? The TPS92613 has a larger lead spacing but it costs more and has a higher current rating which I don't need.

    This is a very standard package which has been widely used in the auto and industrial market, Maybe you can get help from the vendor for the soldering.
