TPS25982: Current limit RILIM setting lower than 82ohm which is the min value in datasheet

Hi,

I'm use the equation in datasheet to design current limit 19A and get the RILIM calculate result is around 75ohm.

75ohm resister value is lower than recommended min value 82ohm in datasheet.

I would like to know if I use 75ohm for RILIM, what is the current limit. Does the equation still work for the design?

If no, how to set 19A current limit for RILIM?

Hi Jim,

The Maximum current limit we recommend on TPS25982 is 14.7 A as shown below.

Any current limit value greater than 14.71 A is not recommended and can damage the device.

Hi Praveen,

I also checked the RILIM range is from 82~1650 ohm.

Use 82 ohm to calculate by current limit equation and get around 18A current limit.

I would like to know which current limit is correct?

Hi Jim,

When you design on a system level, you need to set the maximum current limit to be no more than 14.71 A.

We have not characterized the part for Rilm < 100 ohms and also the part is not recommended to use for continuous current > 15A.

So please do not use a Rilm resistor < 100 ohms.
