BQ76920: Regarding the SHIP and NORMAL mode

Hello,

I have a small doubt regarding the SHIP and NORMAL mode of the BQ76920. when we take the new BQ76920 it will be in SHIP mode. To get it out of the SHIP mode we should give a voltage > VBOOT at the TS1 pin right, Can I just short the TS1 pin to some voltage > VBOOT to make sure that I don't need a push button to get it out of the ship mode?

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Hi,

Yes, you are correct. To exit SHIP mode, the voltage on the TS1 pin must exceed 1000mV. As long as you make sure to apply the voltage for tBOOT_max (2000us), it should be fine.

Hello sir,

My doubt about this was instead of giving the voltage when required can I just short TS1 permanently to a voltage line to make sure it doesn't go to SHIP mode.

Any suggestion would be helpful, Thanks

Hi,

Keeping the TS1 pin permanently high could result in false temperature faults. If you do not want the button, I would recommend connecting this pin to a GPIO on the MCU and configuring it to be low unless you want to exit SHIP mode.
