TPS43340-Q1: Can use a CFF(Feedforward Capacitor) at feedback network?

Part Number: TPS43340-Q1

Hello Team,

My customer would like to know if the CFF(Feedforward Capacitor) can be used in parallel with FB resistor at feedback network of  TPS43340-Q1 to improve transient response as the relevant apps note(SLVA289B) as link below. Because the TPS43340-Q1 datasheet didn't mention about the CFF at FB network.

Best regards,
DY

  • Hello,

Yes the feed forward capacitor can be used if necessary. It adds a zero to the loop but also it adds an associated pole at higher frequency. It is explained in the app note. Usually the feed forward capacitor is used when the output capacitor is ceramic with low ESR. If the output capacitor (tantalum, electrolytic) has higher ESR, there is no need for feed forward capacitor.
