TPS54618: Regarding the failure mode of the EN Pin.

Part Number: TPS54618
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS54418

hello,

It may be difficult to answer, but please let me know.

With the board I designed, I pulled up the EN pin of the TPS54618 to 5V.
Due to project reasons, it cannot be fixed immediately.

What kind of damage might be expected to the EN pin if it continues to operate in this state?
-It will always be in the Enable state
-It is always in the Disable state

Best regards,

T.Sato

  • Hello user,

Here is a matter of what is specified and tested on our side for the TPS54418 regarding the Absolute Maximum Ratings that are set for EN pin.

We do not guarantee functionality over 5V for EN.

Unfortunately it is not a parameter in production which is tested to see how does the system behave when over-stressed on the EN pin especially.

There is no problem to always disable the part, this within specification.

Let me reach out to you in private for a more thorough analysis which could help you here.

Can you please accept my friendship request?

    Thanks a lot!

    Regards,
    Dorian
