BQ76952: Automatic balance function in BQ76952

Hi,

Customer is testing the automatic balance function of BQ76952，and configure Battery Management Studio according to the requirements on page 71 of the data sheet.

Attachment is the configuration files. The following is the status information of the tool：

(1)  The device not enters CONFIG_UPDATE mode.

(2)  No enabled protection alert occurs.

(3)  No enabled protection fault occurs.

(4)  The device has exited DEEPSLEEP mode.

(5)  The device does not enter SHUTDOWN mode.

 

The battery cell information is as follows:

(1)  Cell Vol > 2800mV;

(2)  Cell Temp = 26C;

(3)  Cell delta Voltage > 100mV;

 

Based on the above configuration information and battery cell status information, it should be possible to trigger the automatic balance function. However, the balance function cannot be activated.

Could you give a comment for this issue?

    hi Oliver,
    As per the section 11.1.3 of the BQ76952 datasheet, the cell balancing function has been disabled on the early samples. It cannot be activated with these samples.
    We have fixed this issue and will release a new IC for RTM.

    11.1.3 Cell Balancing Not Working Properly

    The cell balancing component within the device has been disabled in early samples.
