Hi

I am using Bq40z50-R1 for the battery pack design.

In this i would be able to make the 4s cell connection.But when to design for 3s packs.What are the changes to be done.Like need to short any on Votage monitoring pins or it can be done through software.

    Hello Anandan,

    You would have to do both, hardware and software changes in order to change the cell configuration.

    I'd advice you read the BQ40Z50 EVM User Guide(Section 2.3) in order to see how the cells have to be connected.

    Software side, you would have to configure the DA Configuration to the number of cells in your application. The default configuration is 3 cells. You can read about this in the Technical Reference Manual(Section 14.2.1.13).

    As a side note, you can upgrade your BQ40Z50-R1 to BQ40Z50-R3 by just upgrading the firmware. I'd recommend you do so. To see what changes were made, you can check the change log in the product folders for each revision.
