LMG1210: Is there something wrong with our setup off the bootstrap circuit?

Part Number: LMG1210

Hello,

For now we are only in the testing stage of our motor control powerstage, so we don't have real on and off times as we are testing manually.
We are using the independant input mode, 5V supply voltage and 3.3V for HI=1 or LI=1. Switching our Ganfets works for the cases HI=LI=0 -> HO=LO=0, HI=LI=1 -> HO=LO=1 and HI=0 LI=1 -> HI=0 and LI=1.

But the case HI=1 and LI=0 doesn't work correctly as we get an output of HO=LO=0.

As we read in the data sheet the bootstrap circuit is switched off when LI is switched on, which is when switching works fine in our case, we wondered if there is a problem with our bootstrap circuit?

For the bootstrap diode we are using the BAT46WJ,115SOD323F(SC-90) .

Or is it just that we can't test ist manually, but have to clock through the whole process?

Thank you so much for your help!

Best regards

Ines

  • Hi, Ines,

    Are you testing this with a DC signal? If so, you are discharging the bootstrap capacitor. The bootstrap circuitry only works when the system is switching.

    Please send us waveforms from EN, PWM, HB to HS, HO, and LO so we can help you debug.
