BQ25570: Drawing current directly from a lipo connected to VBAT

Part Number: BQ25570
Hi, I’m interested in using the BQ25570 to charge a lipo cell. I have a low power MCU which will work fine off the buck converter. However, I also have a radio with a pulse current of ~500mA or so. Is it possible to run the radio directly connected to the battery while the BQ25570 is operating? Radio transmissions are rare, but they will happen. Thanks.
  • Jeremy,

It is okay to run the radio from the battery.  However, please be aware that if the radio load causes the battery, and therefore VSTOR, to droop below VBAT_UV=2.2V, the internal FET between VSTOR and VBAT turns off.  This may cause the charger to go into cold start.  I suggest using the VBAT_OK signal to prevent radio transmissions if the battery gets too low.

    Regards,

    Jeff
