TPS54202H: Inductors recommendation for TPS54202H

Part Number: TPS54202H

Hello there,

I am interested in working with the TPS54202H for my application, which will have three output power rails, 3.3 V, 5 V and 12 V from Vin = 24 V, and I am wondering if you could help me clarify a few questions:

  1. According to the datasheet, for Vin = 24 V, Vout = 3.3 V, L = 10 uH the efficiency lies within 85% to 90% for 0.1 A < Io < 2 A. However, I'm curious to know what is DCR and ACR for the 10 uH used during the efficiency data acquisition? Also, the datasheet does not list/recommend vendors to get the 10 uH from; with that said, is there any chance you could recommend me which 10 uH to get?
  2. Similar question follows for Vout = 5 V. Again, the datasheet recommends L = 15 uH and states the efficiency ~90% for 0.1 A < Io < 2 A but what is DCR and ACR for the 15 uH used during the efficiency data acquisition? Also, the datasheet does not list/recommend vendors to get the 15 uH from; with that said, is there any chance you could recommend me which 15 uH to get?
  3. The datasheet doesn't list the efficiency for Vin = 24 V to Vout = 12 V over output current. On my 12 V rail, Io will vary from 400 mA to 1.2 A. Is there any chance you can let me what efficiency to expect over that current range? And, can you recommend which 22 uH to get?

Thank you in advance for the attention and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Regards,

Alex

  • Hi Alex,

For 1&2, Inductance loss has small impact on efficiency so we don't specify and special requirement on it. For 5Vout we use 7447714150 from Wurth Elektronik based on EVM user guide information.

For 3, I suggest to use Webench to get a simulation efficiency. Thanks.
