Part Number: TPS2546

My customer plan to use TPS2546 for BT speaker. There have 2 questions need your help.

TPS2546 need to operating in DCP mode and support load detection function.
1. If charging external device, STATUS pin need to output high.
2. If no external device be connected, STATUS pin need to output low.

Questions :
Q1. Could you provide a guide about how to setting CTL1, CTL2, CTL3, ILIM_SEL port ?
Q2. If not using DP_OUT pin and DM_OUT pin, how to connect them ? Is it need to floating or pull down/high ?

Thanks,

  • Hello Peter,

The STATUS pin of the TPS2546 is an open drain output so it is active low. If the customer would like a functionality where STATUS is high when a device is connected, then they will need to connect some type of logic inverter

If the customer always wants the device to be in DCP mode, then they can program the CTL1, CTL2, CTL3, ILIM_SEL pins to 0,1,1,1. You can reference table 3 in he datasheet

If you are not using the DP_OUT pin and DM_OUT pin, you can leave them floating.
