BQ78350-R1: Writing configuration parameters not working

Part Number: BQ78350-R1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

I am currently trying to calibrate the BQ78350-R1 chip used on one of our boards using bqStudio.

The procedure I am following:

1. Navigating to the Chemistry tab and programming for our selected chemistry

2. Navigating to the Data Memory tab and importing our calibration file (.gg.csv) and attempting to Write All to the device.

At this point, when I click Write All, the values I have imported in to the program flash RED and return to the defaults.

This exact procedure has worked already along with following steps to successfully calibrate the chip, however, it is not working on some of the boards, so I need to figure out this red error.

I have attached pictures of the red Data Memory fields highlighting that the updated values have not been written correctly.

  • Hi Brian,

I don't see the attachments, however a common problem with the update of data memory values is the Power: Valid Update Voltage.  It is 3500 by default and is not normally changed.  If it is decreased by setting, or the applied voltage results in a voltage below 3500, or the AFE Cell Map is set such that the voltage reported is below this level data flash will not update and the observation is much like you describe.

If it is the AFE cell map you can't reprogram it because you can't change he data memory values.  Depending on the issue you may be able to adjust the voltage to allow programming, or save the gg file, re-program the srec and reload the gg file.

If this does not help please try to post pictures again.

  • Hi Brian,

Re-programming does overwrite calibration, if you must reload it will need re-calibrated.
