I'm a bit baffled with this chip. There is no marker or hint about the right orientation / pin 1 (in any case, nothing that I'm familiar with).
This is what the top of the chip looks like (I put one on my scanner):
(the white-ish thingy near the center of the chip, I'm sure that's a dust particle, either on the scanner's glass surface, or on the chip's surface)
If I were to guess, I would think the vertical line on the left of the image is the marker; so, pin 1 would be the bottom-left as seen on the image? (but I would very much like not having to guess)
The datasheet only talks about the orientation in the tape; problem is, I already took all of the chips out of the tape (doing that has never been a problem — I assumed that I would just look at them and would be able to see the dot that marks the pin 1 corner, as I have always been able to do in the past; always, not a single exception!)
