TPS23861: Modify ICUT value to a smaller one

Part Number: TPS23861
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS23882

Hi Team,

My customer is designing multi-ports PSE (up to 12 ports) with three TPS23861.

They want to control the output power of each port to as small as to 5W.

But the options in ICUT register are limited to 8, is it possible to modify the value to a smaller one to decrease the output power of each port?

Thanks

Sincerely,

Edward

  • Hi Edward,

These ICUT thresholds are fixed so 110mA is the lowest you can set the TPS23861.

You may want to look at the TPS23882. This is able to go down to 4W and increase in increments of 0.5W. This looks at the total power rather than a current threshold like in TPS23861.

I recommend ordering a TPS23882 EVM and testing this our with the GUI.

I recommend ordering the full bundle to fully evaluate the system.
