BQ40Z80: Chemistry file for NCR20700B

Part Number: BQ40Z80
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, GPCCHEM

Hi,

I'm considering using this cell in a 6S pack with a BQ40Z80.

I've attempted to characterise a pack made up of 6x NCR20700B by creating a log, packaging, and uploading to the GPC tool page.

The tool returned a suggestion of using ID# 3550, which is an EaglePicher SLC-201, 1750mAh LiMn2O4 cell.   My cells, the NCR20700B, are 4250mAh capacity LiNiCoAlO2.

Why did the tool return such a different cell as the best match?

Is there anywhere I can find chemistry files for NCR20700B?

It's a common cell, yet doesn't appear in the list (Chemistry version in my bqStudio installation is 810)

I've attached my log file, package log, and the returned GPC report.

Thanks in advance,

Daniel8524.GPCPackaged.zip8524.GPCPackaged.zip1300.GPCPackaged-report.zip

  • Hello Daniel,

The GPCCHEM tool will match your OCV data with a chemistry ID that's already created, the capacity doesn't play a large roll in the selection of a chem ID. It does appear your error is pretty high at over 5%, you may need to try logging a single cell and submitting that log for better chem ID. You can get the chemistry updater to see if your cell has been run in the most recent update as well.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hello Daniel,

Sorry we don't have the exact chemistry for your NCR20700B. Chem ID # 3550 is the closest matched ID from our database, but I wouldn't recommend using any ID match that's greater than 3% DOD Error. Is it possible for you to use one of the cells we already have a chem ID for in our database?
