Can EN really be tied to Vin?

Page 3 of data sheet states "A valid input voltage, on pin 8, must be present before EN is asserted" (this is under Pin Functions for EN pin)

Electrical characteristics (page 6) has VUVLO(rising) = 2.5v and VEN (VIHmin) = 1.4v

Therefore, if EN is tied to VIN technically this is not OK. Except that (a) we want to do this, and (b) various application schematics in the data sheet do so.

Can we safely tie EN to VIN ?

    Hi Avatar,

    Yes, you can tie EN to Vin as shown in the D/S. 

    It's not clear to me what the conflict is.  The statement on page 3 means that you cannot apply an EN voltage without a Vin voltage present.  This would violate the abs max rating for EN (EN cannot go more than 0.2V above VIN), on page 4.

    As well, have you looked at the TPS82084 or TPSM82821 as smaller, newer, cheaper alternatives to LMZ20501?
