UCC28950: From burst mode to normal operation

Part Number: UCC28950

Dear Team,

Here is Kevin from Delta Taiwan.

Csutomer is curious how long will it take to transition from burst mode to normal operation.

For example, during no-load the IC operates at burst mode.

When loader start to load, how long will it take for UCC28950 back to normal operation.

Customer worry during transition the Vo may drop too much,

BR

Kevin

  • Hello Kevin,

Thank you for your interest in the UCC28950 PSFB controller.

Part of the transition time will depend on the transient response of the feedback loop.
I don't know about the transition time between modes of the controller itself.
I will refer your question to an expert on this device.

    Regards,
    Ulrich

  • Hello Kevin

Ulrich is correct. The recovery time will depend on the transient response of the feedback loop - especially its closed loop bandwidth and slew rate. During this transient event the output voltage will drop of course. The loop response governs the recovery time. Increasing the output capacitance and making sure that the DC resistance in the path from the capacitors to the output voltage measurement point is as low as possible.

    Regards
