TPS2829: Use of TPS2829 to amplify PWM 0-5V to 0-10V

Genius 3300 points
Part Number: TPS2829
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC27517

1. I am using microcontroller which works at 5volts, so it can generate PWM of 0-5V

2. Have to drive a led driver which need PWM of 0-10V.

3. Can i use TPS2829  to do this?  We will give 10V at Vdd of TPS2829

a) So that MCU gives 0V, TPS2829  gives 0V

b) and when MCU gives 5V, then TPS2829  gives 10V

This is driver which needs to be driven :www.digikey.in/.../7704056

  • Hello VT,

The TPS2829 is a CMOS input driver so to operate with a VDD of 10V, which is required to generate the 10V driver output voltage, the input signal threshold is 6.6V typical 7V maximum rising threshold.

A newer driver which will work in your application is the UCC27517. This driver is a single output driver which has 2.2V input threshold and can work with a VDD range of 4.5V to 18V. This will be a better device for your application.
