TPS2363: Need to know whether our custom use case will create any issues

Hi,

I have one question related to TPS2363

In our system, we have PCIe Slots and we are using TPS2363 for managing Hot-plug of PCIe SLOT powers (3.3Aux, 3.3Main and 12V)

As shown below. we are using CH-A for one x8 SLOT and CH-B for another SLOT.

In Case of PCIe x8 riser, it is clear

But in case of PCIe x16 riser, We are shorting the output of CH-A and CH-B (For example, 12V from CH-A and CH-B are shorted together and connected to PCIe CARD)

Can you please let us know, do you see any issue with such implementation.

Hi Padmesh,

Is the power supply source same or different for CH-A and CH-B ? For example, is the 12V source common for CH-A and CH-B or both the channels are powered by different sources ?

The power source is common for both the channels A and B.

Hi Padmesh,

If the inputs and outputs are tied together there shouldn't be any major issue. Please make sure that the path resistance from Power Supply to load for each channel are equal to ensure equal loading. As we have not tested this configuration we recommend you test the circuit thoroughly under all system conditions before you implement this in your system.
