BQ78PL114EVM Temperature sensor set up

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQWIZARD, BQ78PL116, BQ76PL102

Hello,

Can someone please help explain to me how to set up the temperature sensors? I'm not sure if I can cut the sensors up into several pieces to measure different battery cells. Also, how is it mounted with the battery? I looked at the SLUU335A Manual and it shows a diagram of the sensor in between the batteries. Is this the best way to set it up? Can someone please send me screen shots or just explain how the temperature sensors are set up with the battery cells.

Thank you so much,

Brian

How can we measure temperatures beyond 4 cells ? Because bqwizard , firmware 6000 loaded on bq78pl116  does not allow more than 4 temperature sensors to be associated (which means it is not possible to access bq78pl102 's temperature information ?) with any cells.

Nevertheless we are having "0 cell found " error , can anyone fix this problem ?

  • Hi Sercan,

The PL116 is designed to measure only 4 temperatures

Hope you were able to resolve your issue.

If not the following is a debug methodology you can follow.

     PowerLAN Network between bq78PL116 & bq76PL102

What happens if I get “Zero cells found”?
One of the PowerLAN nodes is not working.
The Expected Number of Cells does not equal Actual number found.

Use iterative approach of loading .tmap files until you can no longer build a PowerLAN Network.  This will tell you where the faulty node is
