TPS2836: Input control options

Part Number: TPS2836
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2834, TPS28225

Hi TI,

I am interested in the TPS2836, but one major roadblock for me is that I don't see a way to have an input that results in both the high side and low side to be off at the same time. Is there a way that this is possible with this half bridge driver? Thanks for your help,

Anthony

  • Hello Anthony,

Thank you for the interest in TI gate drivers. I reviewed  the datasheet for the TPS2836, and I don't see an input that will result in the high and low side drivers in the off state. There is a similar driver, with higher pin count which has and enable function which will result in both drivers off when disabled, it is the TPS2834.

These drivers are an older product offering and we have a newer device to consider if you have a VDD level of 4.5 to 8V. The TPS28225 is a sync buck driver which has an enable function and also a tri state capable input. If you have a tri state capable driver, the tri state will result in both driver outputs low. The enable function also can be used to disable both driver outputs.

Confirm if this addresses your questions, or you can post additional questions on this thread.

    Regards,

  • Hi Richard,

Thank you for your help and the additional suggestions for gate drivers! I will check out those options to see if those might work.

    Regards,

    Anthony Lodi
