Hi teams,

Can I use back to back configuration on TPS24712 device that prevent power reverse?

If yes, Can I directly to use the configuration ?

TPS24741x can drive 2 FETs connected in back to back configuration. This configuration will block reverse current only when the FET's are turned OFF i.e. the Hotswap is in OFF condition.

When the Hotswap is ON and the FETs are in ON condition, there is no way the device will block reverse current as the controller does not have the intelligence to detect the reverse current.

Hi Jimmy,

We do not have a reference design as such bu the connection of FET's in back to back configuration is pretty simple.

You can connect the FETs in back to back in common source configuration and connect the Gate pins of the 2 FETs to the Gate signal of the controller.
You can make use of the design calculator available at https://www.ti.com/product/TPS24712#design-development##design-tools-simulation to select components so as to make a Robust design. Please go through the videos in below link before using Design Calculator.

As mentioned earlier, the back to back connection of FET's will only block reverse current in OFF condition. This configuration cannot block reverse current when the FET's are in ON condition. In case you want reverse current protection always active, please consider using TPS2474x Hotswap controller.
