Hi,
I am trying to analyze the BQ24620EVM layout to help me in my own BQ24620-based PCB design.
The BQ24620 specs call for a single point connection between the AGND and the PGND planes.
Would the point indicated on the attached picture be considered as such a point for the EVM board or am I missing another connection somewhere on the board between the AGND and the PGND.
Thanks,
Hi Alex,
Yes the PGND pin if the IC connects through that point to AGND, and there are vias from that connection to the mid layer containing AGND.
Hi Kedar,
I am sorry I was not clear enough describing the attached picture.
The image is actually showing your EVM board layout from the SLUC339 package, so I was hoping for the 100% sure answer if this was the only connection or not.
Thanks,
Alex
Hi Alex,
Yes, the comments above are referencing the layout connections for the EVM. The trace form the AGND connects to vias down into the midlayer which is being used as AGND, and AGND is connected to PGND through that highlighted connection in your picture at that single point. In our newer layouts we use net-ties to be able to connect AGND and PGND together close to the IC, so that is another option
