BQ40Z50-R1: Tolerance of the protection thresholds of the BQ40z50-r1

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R1

Dear Sir/Madam,

Can I know the tolerance of the protection thresholds of the BQ40z50-r1.

For example,

  1. Cell over voltage protection = 4.25V
  2. Over current in charge = 3000mA
  3. Overtemperature in charge = 45degC

What are the tolerances for these settings.

I understand that this is related to the ADC conversion.  But it looks very complex.

Best rgds,

KPK

  • Hi KPK,

Looking at the datasheet block diagram, it appears there are no dedicated hardware comparators for the voltage protection thresholds. Therefore, the voltage threshold accuracy will depend on the ADC accuracy, so you are looking at the correct spec for this.

The current protection threshold accuracy is defined in Table 7.31.

The temperature accuracy is more complex since it depends on the thermistor, the internal pullup resistor and the internal voltage reference. Table 7.22 and Table 7.24 defines the pullup resistor and voltage reference parameters.

    Best regards,

    Matt
