TPS92612-Q1: Approve output pin ESD

Team,

I would like to know if there is any action could improve the ESD performance of TPS92612-Q1 output pin.

They would like to pass the ISO 10605 +/-15kV for contact and air. I understand this is system level ESD spec. So they have added the ESDCAN05-2BWY on the output pin. The schematic and layout are showing as below.

But the output pin still fail when do the ISO 10605 test. Do you have any idea for this issue? or whether we could do anything on output pin to improve the ESD performance?

Hi Roy,

Since the ESD diode is used for protecting the +-15V, and you want to enhance the output pin anti-ESD ability, so i suggest you to place the ESD diode to the output as close as possible.

Hi Frank,

Actually, we place the ESD diode on connector side. But IC may fail when do the ISO 10605 test. (fail rate 3/300)

Could you let me know how could we do in IC side may enhance the ESD.

So do you mean the ESD inject in connector side?

Since IC's ESD immunity level have been fixed so the only way to enhance ESD ability is using additional ESD immunity component, and whether customer try as my recommendation that place the ESD diode close to the output pin?
