BQ40Z80: Current offset

Part Number: BQ40Z80
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO,

Hi,

I have a current bias on the 0 (when nothing is connected to my circuit).

The value can be around 30/20 mA.

I tried to fix this by means current calibration in BQ studio, applying 2000 mA.

This procedure did not fix the problem.

Do you think that can be a not reliable cirucit  (so, the problem is hw dependent) or should I follow another methods to calibrate?

It happens on several PCB

  • Hi Fabrizio,

In BQStudio, it looks like it only shows the option to calibrate Current Gain. This is what you are doing when you apply 2000mA.

The BQ40Z80 also has the ability to calibrate CC Offset (see the BQ40z80 Technical Reference Manual for details). I think you need to calibrate CC Offset in your case. You should probably reset the CC Gain back to the default value first since it is better to calibrate the offset and then the gain.

    Best regards,

    Matt
