TPS92611-Q1: Behavior of over output current limit

Hi team,

My customer used the TPS92611-Q1 for their design. And we used R(SNS) = 2.7ohm to set the current limit = 36mA.

We use the electronic load CC mode to have 40mA output current. We find some of TPS92611 pin 7/8 will damage.(short)

1. Could you let me know why pin7/8 damaged?

2. Could I use electronic load to simulate the over current? if it couldn't, what is the reason?

Hi Roy

There are many reason may cause the damage of IC , i need the schematic, input voltage range and the LED condition.

i can't figure out what happen from your description. Please offer more detail for this case.

The schematic is showing as below. This measurement is not using LED, only use electronic load CC mode to sink current.

Hi Roy,

Generally we use electronic load CV mode to equal LED load, the difference between the current you set and the E-load set may cause the damage.

I suggest customer use CV mode to test it again.

Our device is constant current device, why you want to achieve over current behavior?

Because this device could set the output current, we would like to know if we sink much higher than Io(set), what is the IC behavior?

Out device don't support connect another current source.

Power management forum
