BQ30Z554-R1: BQ30Z50-R1 FCC, RM, RSOC and ASOC jumps during charging and discharging

Part Number: BQ30Z554-R1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ30Z50-R1

Hello Sir:

We are using BQ30Z50-R1 and have a problem that FCC, RM, RSOC and ASOC jumps during charging and discharging.

Please refer the figure as below.

Also I provide the GG file, log file for you reference.

Would you please help us to check what's wrong on this battery pack?

Thank you very much.

  • Hello,

Has this pack been in the field and returned? I see the cycle count is over 400. It looks like after the first cycle the gauge does not jump during charge, are there any specific conditions that cause the jumps?

Also double check your safety alerts, it looks like they may be getting triggered during your cycling.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hi Keller:

I got the new product gg file and I compared with failed product gg sample.

I saw the failed Ra is bigger than new Ra.

And I also checked the TRM and I find the FCC will update after charge or discharge time exceeding 35 minutes.(page 44)

I also compared with log file, the start time is about 09:24:33 and the end FCC change time is about 10:01:40.

The time between start and end is about 37 mins.

Did you think the FCC jumps is a normal condition and also has a relationship with Ra?

If yes, would you please provide some explain for me by mail?

    Thank you very much.

  • Hello,

Yes the Ra values can effect the FCC simulations if they are higher. I would recommend you use the smoothing function of the gauge to smooth FCC and RemCap to reduce the jumps seen in the values.

    Sincerely,
