BQ27Z561: Lifetime Data Reset

Hi,

My customer urgently needs to know how to reset the Lifetime Data in this device.
He has tried several methods:

"Resetting Lifetime Data (e.g. discharge cycle, state of health) in the fuel gauge after replacing the battery. Looking into LifetimeDataReset() in BQ27Z561 technical reference and how to implement it, however it never reset the lifetime data (it stays as it is). The I2C connection works well because all other commands to the fuel gauge works.

I've tried both disabling and enabling lifetime data collection before resetting the lifetime data. Both cases didn't work. I also try to disable gauging at the same time, also didn't work. I also try to reset the device after toggling the lifetime data collection and before sending lifetime data reset command, this also didn't work."

Hi M.A.M.,

I just checked the TRM and one thing to note is this command is not available in Sealed mode. Is the device Sealed?

And this is a Subcommand which means you need to write 0x0028 to command 0x3E.

The Device is not sealed.

The customer confirms - he writes 0x3E, 0x28, 0x00.

Can you have them try to write 0x00 0x28, 0x00?

I notice the TRM has this description in Section 13.2: It is recommended to send “command only” operations to 0x00 and 0x01.

Hi,

Just closing this E2E thread since some parameters had to be reset separately, and not affected by LifeTimeReset(), such as “Cycle Count” and “Qmax cycle count”.
This created some confusion.
