BQ25895M: External Boost converter in the output of SYS pin

Hi Team,

We have a customer planning to use BQ25895M as part on their application. However, if they used PMID pin the device has output of 5V@3.1A  only but they need a  load requirement of 5V @ 6A(max). Can the customer use external Boost converter in the output of SYS pin to have 5V @ 6A  output?

    Referring to 7.3 Recommended Operating Conditions on the d/s, Isys max is 5A.

    Is it possible that customer can use external boost converter in the SYS pin to achieve the 6A output? If not, do we have such device that can handle this?

    Isys max is 5A and can’t support any higher current. I’m not aware of any devices which may support your application. Please submit a new e2e for part recommendations.

    Our customer has additional question. 

    1.What is the recommended Li-ion batteries for this kind of design

    Battery Charge/Discharge
    Input is 5V from USB Type C connector
    Single Cell Li-Ion Battery 3.7V
    Output or Dischage Voltage is 5V (Constant)
    Should have Over Volatge,Over Current and Under Voltage Protection
    Charging current is Max-5A and Discharging current is 8A

    2. Can this design, charge 18650 standard Battery(3.6V Nominal) using BQ25895M.

    1. Please check with Li-ion battery venders.

    2. The device will charge the battery per the charge profile in Fig 13 on the d/s. Please check your battery specs and see if the BQ25895M charge profile fits your battery charging requirements.
