Hi Eldho,
I am not sure exactly what you are asking, but I think this video is a very helpful introduction for this device. It will help you configure and setup the gauge and show you what you need to do to prepare the battery in production: https://training.ti.com/bq40z50-setup-and-going-production

Hi Matt,
I have a battery pack with bq40z50, i want to charge and discharge the battery pack without using the bqstudio. Current situation i am charging and discharging the battery pack using the FET_EN, CHG_FET_TOGGLE, and DSG_FET_TOGGLE commands. After sealing the battery pack using the SEAL command i wont be able to use the FET Toggle commands, in this case how i can charge and discharge the battery?
Hi Eldho,
There is a [FET_EN] bit in the ManufacturingStatus register. You should set this bit to '1'. The FETs will be enabled and controlled by the device to respond to protection conditions. There should be no need to manually toggle the FETs.
Best regards,
Matt
Thank you for the help, the FET_EN worked. Also i want to know is there any device available for charging and discharging the battery pack? because to do the learning cycle we have to discharge and charge battery pack, right?
Hi Eldho,
Unfortunately we do not have a device for this. There used to be a module available (GDK), but it was only for single-cell applications. Normally, you can use a power supply for charging and a load or source meter for discharging. I have seen inexpensive USB controlled kits online for controlling the charge and discharge, but I have not tried these personally.
Best regards,
Matt
Hello Matt,
I appreciate your reply,
Then how we can successfully run a learning cycle?
Hi Eldho,
Like I said, this can be done using a supply and and load or source meter. This video is really helpful for going through the process: https://training.ti.com/bq40z50-setup-and-going-production
