BQ40Z50-R2: When battery is charging , FCC value was updated before the valid charge termination

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R2

Dear ,

I am using the BQ40Z50-R2  to design a  battery , the battery design capacity is 6500mAh, the design voltage is 14.4V ,the cells configuration is 2P4S.

The battery config valid charge termination taper current is 200mA .

When i run a charging test , i found that the Fullchargecapacity(FCC) was updated before the valid charge termination.

When completed the charge, i check the FCC value,i found that the FCC value was updated when the charge current is 286mA before the valid charge termination.

After a while ,the FCC value was updated again when the valid charge termination(charge current is 186mA, the accuracy is ±20mA). I think , this FCC update is normal.

I want to know whether FCC value update is normal under such a current 286mA (when the taper current has not been reached)? What caused the FCC update?

SN19195.xlsx

Test setup:

  1. Battery discharge to undervoltage protection 10.8V.

  2. Connect EV2300 to battery and record all the charge information.

  3. When the charger show the battery was charged full, stop the record.

  4. Check the FCC is update when the battery on charging.

Thanks in advance for the help,

Billy
