TPS54202: Power loss distribution between inductor and chip

Dear,

Here we will conduct the thermal simulation of TPS54202 under 12Vin, 5Vout, 0.5A condition. We can derive the total power loss using the efficiency curve in datasheet as below, but we don't know how to distribute the power consumption between inductor and our chip. Do you have related data or suggestions? Thanks.

    Hi,

    IC loss calculation is more complexed, inductor loss is more easier to be got.

    For inductor, DC loss can be easily got by I2DCR, and About AC loss, some inductor Vendors provide the calculation at their official Web, but some do not, suggest to check inductor vendor for details.
